Not long back, the Indian Finance Minister received a call center call on his cell phone while he was busy planning the future of the country with some senior political leaders! The lead generation call offered a housing loan to the finance minister! He was so agitated with the call that he asked the Telecom Minister to take prompt action. As a fall-out of that one incident, the telemarketing services in India will see some stringent rules being introduced in the recent months. Some of the guidelines for BPO units have already been framed after a meeting with the telecom service providers.
India is a huge telemarketing bed because of the population. The major chunk of the population comprises of the middle class with disposable income to purchase products and services. The call center units doing business in the Indian markets have always earned rich profits. The telecom authority in the country has also been very lenient with BPO calls invading the privacy of the citizens. The ideal telemarketing services scenario is going to change.
