Lead Generation on Cell Phones Stunted
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has hit back at the lead generation efforts of call center units in a new way! They are now planning to include unsolicited texts as part of the violations of the telemarketing laws. Consumers who register with the national Do Not Call (DNC) lists should not be sent text messages that sell/promote products/services. BPO units across the world that works in the American market felt largely unhappy about the inclusion of text messages in the violation norms. In short, it means another serious hurdle in the process of sales lead generation. Cell phones were becoming a potent tool for marketers all over the globe.
There are very immediate results of lead generation through cell phones. Most cell phones do not allow users to delete a message without opening it. That is a huge advantage, as against emails and calls when the user can choose to read/listen according to the sender’s ID. Call center units had this chance of writing something catchy and interesting to grab the user’s attention because the user will read a couple of words before deleting the text. Then it’s the question of whether the user would like to avail it or not. But this was the best chance that the BPO units were getting at sales lead generation. Losing this advantage will mean bad news for telemarketing services providers.
