The renowned consumer group, ‘Which?’, has conducted a survey among customers and receivers of cold calls made by lead generation companies. The survey clearly pointed out the respondents were not interested in the sales lead generation calls made by the call center agents when there was no live voice to talk to. The respondents answered that they hung up on these calls as soon as they found out that it was an automated call. The result of this survey is contrary to what the BPO experts believe. Many of these experts feel that cold calls make for healthy collections at the telemarketing table. The experts also feel that cold calling is trying to exploit some purchase out of a dead lead. Such efforts sometimes do make a difference.

As for the automated calls, we feel that such lead generation methods don’t really work. It’s true that we use predictive dialing technology at the outbound call center desk. However, we always follow it up with live call center agents. Only the dialing is handled by software. When the receiver comes through on the phone, our BPO agents are immediately on the phone. We do not leave a pre-recorded voice mail or other automated messages for our prospective customers. We rely on transparent sales lead generation techniques because we feel that maintaining transparency is the best way to get someone on board.
